Visiting Vietnam National University

In Vietnam, any ceremony has to take place on a lucky day. Whether it’s a wedding, a company event, or a groundbreaking ceremony for a new construction project, the stars have to be aligned.

For Vietnam National University – the largest tertiary institution in the country – the 27th of September 2024 must have been a particularly lucky day. This day marks the launch of construction of its new Hoa Lac campus headquarters, a key move in the university’s transformation into a world-class academic hub.

Spanning more than 1,113 hectares and comprising 23 component projects, VNU’s development will position it as a leading global institution, with the potential to be ranked among the top 500 universities worldwide.

VNU’s planned campus will look like a city by the time it’s completed in around 2050. With state-of-the-art facilities, including new lecture halls, dormitories, and research centres, VNU’s expansion will advance Vietnam’s education objectives and foster innovation on a national and international scale.

This day also marked the opening move in a new collaboration between VNU, Metro Writers and Social Impact VN to set up new award and publishing projects for the benefit of Vietnamese society. With academic contributions from VNU and the involvement of other key partners, we look forward to moving ahead with our intentions to support Vietnam’s philanthropic projects as well as building information bridges between this country and others around the world.

Congratulations to VNU and we look forward to productive and exciting projects ahead.
