Our book for Phi Nhung is finally complete and has been submitted for layout and publication. There is so much that we have to thank her for, and sometimes it felt like her invisible hand was directing us, making the right introductions to the right people at the right time. Many of those we interviewed for the book told us they felt strongly that Phi Nhung was sending them a message to connect with us and make their contributions to the story. Thanks to all those who spoke with us to allow us to have the book ready on time.
The last touch was to name the chapters. For a long time, we didn’t know how to break down Nhung’s story into brief titles. On the last day we worked on editing the book, we had the answer. For a singer of her standing, it only makes sense that each part of her life should be represented by one of her songs. So many of the songs she left us have strange parallels with her experiences in this world. We have therefore named the ten chapters of our book after the gift of music that she left us when she departed.
As the book goes through the final stages before its release, we’re now honoured to present to everyone here the book’s table of contents. Those who love Phi Nhung’s music are welcome to listen to each of these songs and enjoy them again before the book is released on September 28, 2022.
Outside of Vietnam, the book will be available in English from amazon.com for purchase from the date of release. Within Vietnam, the English edition of the book will be available from SaigonBooks on the same day, with the Vietnamese edition released later this year.
